Online Research for Economic Development
I was hired by city hall to develop a new economic district in this town. Our goal is to get more corporations to move their operations here and hire local workers. We want to be regarded as a city that’s friendly to businesses. As part of that effort, we have been working hard to develop more business support services at the local level. I have assigned some of my staff to research industry info; it’s important to understand what the concerns of a given industry are, if we are to develop and provide them with the resources they need.
We have found the business zine to be a useful format for online research. It can be accessed and read quickly, and the reader can click on useful links for more information. It’s one way we’re accumulating the data we need. I’m happy to report that our hard work over the past few years are starting to pay off. In the past year several large corporations relocated here and we’ve had inquiries from more. Our city has a major port facility and our highways are well-maintained. We also invested a lot of money in airport improvements, so we can handle a lot of traffic.
