Plastic surgeon Joel Roskind MD, who ran a large, successful clinic on Long Island before moving to Miami to consult, has returned to the New York area to lecture, consult and pursue a personal interest in Judaic spirituality. Joel Roskind, also returns to Boston University Medical School, where he has taught previously, to teach a case management class called Integrated Problems.
Joel Roskind MD, who ran a Long Island plastic surgery clinic specializing in body enhancements for over a decade, brings a wealth of clinical know how as well as academic expertise, and knowledge in the business of medicine. He is also intensely involved in the area of practice management, which deals with hiring and training staff, setting up electronic systems and patient relations.
As a practicing surgeon, Dr. Joel Roskind learned firsthand changes in the healthcare field leading to an increasing number of procedures being performed outside the traditional hospital environment. Always patient oriented, Dr. Roskind’s concerns about the safety of outpatient and ambulatory surgery facilities extended to a long association with the AAAASF, including over 20 years of service as a facilities inspector. He is well positioned to help operators of such facilities meet the highest quality standards required by insurers today.
Joel Roskind was heavily involved with the AAAASF during the cost-induced shift from hospital to outpatient procedures, and is well versed in patient safety and regulatory compliance issues surrounding outpatient and ambulatory clinics. He has also taken a good interest in the business side of medicine and now advises in the region of practice management.
Dr. Joel Roskind has always believed that because patients put so much trust in their doctors, physicians have a special obligation to make sure patients get the best possible care, and he has worked throughout his career to make sure they are protected by stringent safety standards. He trusts to continue to contribute to the medical area in this field as a consultant. In what promises to be a very active retirement, Dr. Joel Roskind also plans to engage a personal interest in Judaic spirituality.
